MegaHouse has officially announced a surprise addition to its Variable Action Kit (V.A.K.) line: the Gilla Doga, a rare mobile suit variant from Mobile Suit Gundam MS Senki. The announcement was made at the MegaHobby event, where a prototype of the new model kit was unveiled to the public.
This marks a significant moment in Gundam hobby history — not only is this the first-ever model kit of the Gilla Doga, but it’s also a rare example of Yutaka Izubuchi’s mechanical design work being produced outside Bandai’s Gunpla line.

The Gilla Doga hails from Mobile Suit Gundam: MS Senki, a Universal Century side story set in the aftermath of Char’s Counterattack. While the Geara Doga is well-known as Neo Zeon’s mainline grunt unit, the Gilla Doga is a heavily modified field variant — featuring reinforced armor, revised backpack systems, and adjusted proportions suited for close-combat operations.
Despite its distinct silhouette and cult following among Universal Century enthusiasts, the Gilla Doga has never been released as a model kit in any format — until now.

The base Geara Doga design was created by legendary mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi for Char’s Counterattack (1988). Izubuchi’s designs — including the Nu Gundam, Sazabi, Re-GZ, and Geara Doga — redefined the look of Universal Century mecha, emphasizing military realism, mass-production aesthetics, and functional detailing.
The Gilla Doga variant was developed later for MS Senki, refined internally at Sunrise and Bandai’s model team. It retained Izubuchi’s original structure while adding new visual flourishes. Some line art shows influences from Kunio Okawara’s supervision and Hajime Katoki’s cleanup work, giving the unit a hybrid look that stands out among late U.C. mobile suits.
The prototype Gilla Doga was shown for the first time at MegaHobby, attracting attention for its faithful sculpt and commanding silhouette. While details such as scale, price, and release date have not been officially revealed, MegaHouse has confirmed that further information will be announced in upcoming hobby publications and events.
Given MegaHouse’s recent patterns, collectors can expect a 1/100 or non-scale release with premium articulation and detailing, likely targeting mid-to-high-end builders.
